cranberry brie bites

Remember a few days ago when I told you we’d be putting those leftover sugared cranberries to good use?  Turns out, not only are they addicting all on their own, they taste great when paired with some soft brie cheese over a cracker!  Brie pairs excellently with fruits and berries, and these sugared cranberries are no exception.  Best of all, while this appetizer looks elegant and fancy, it takes no time at all to throw together.  You can make the cranberries days ahead of time, then right before the party just slice the brie and top the crackers.  It’s these kind of appetizers that make party planning and hosting so much simpler!

  • Crackers (your choice; we used pepper-cracked water crackers)
  • Brie cheese (I found a sliceable “log” of brie at Trader Joe’s, which made things even simpler!)
  • Sugared cranberries

Place the crackers on a serving platter.  Top each cracker with a thin slice of brie and 3 sugared cranberries.  Enjoy!

how to: make sugared cranberries

A few days ago, I shared with you guys our epic Christmas cake: the Stump de Noël.  That thing was a beast of a cake (and so fun to make!). One of the best things about it was the way the meringue mushrooms, sugared cranberries and sugared rosemary sprigs made it into a woodland […]

breaking bad sugar cookies

Today’s post is not so much a recipe as just sharing how I made these Breaking Bad sugar cookies for our Breaking Bad Halloween!  As I’ve mentioned before, it took me a long time to give decorated sugar cookies a go.  I was sure my serious lack of artistic talent would bring any such attempts […]

a breaking bad halloween

Halloween is a pretty special holiday in our household.  Four years ago, Daren and I met at a Halloween party, and quickly thereafter became a couple.  Ever since then, we’ve made it our thing to really go all out with the Halloween costumes – we’ve actually been known to start brainstorming Halloween ideas as early […]

alyssa’s 1st communion

WOW, has this been a busy week! I have to apologize for not being able to update on here as often as I’d like – things have just been getting crazier and crazier, and unfortunately I don’t anticipate them getting a whole heck of a lot better any time before the wedding. Luckily, once June […]

soft pretzel bites

These soft pretzel bites rounded out the snack food menu for our Dogfish Head Beer Tasting party.  The recipe made quite a bit, and I thought for sure we would have leftovers… but apparently people really enjoyed them, because by the end of the night they were gone!  The perfect food to soak up all […]

For those of you not from this area, you may or may not have heard of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery.  If you haven’t, or if you’ve heard of them and haven’t had the chance to try their beers, find some now – you’re missing out! They have so many different types of beer, and do such […]

jalapeño popper dip

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here! Usually, I don’t watch much football.  I don’t have anything against it, there’s just usually a lot of things I’d rather be doing and I never think to turn it on.  If friends want to go to a bar and watch a game I’ll gladly go, but I probably […]
